Love/Care/Encourage

Happy New Years! It is the first day of 2019. Yesterday I mention 3 words that seems to make an impact on our lives more than any other. It’s not about how much money you make or the amount of wards you achieve but it’s more about how you touch other peoples lives. It’s about how we love, care and how we encourage.

That all sounds really good but I sat down this morning and begin to ask God questions. It’s great to talk a good game Lord but how do I begin to put that to work? Don’t you know God loves when His children ask questions! He showed me 4 things that have to happen to have a heart like Danny and Debbie.

First, my time with God has to be turned up. It’s about getting lost in His presence. It’s a time to seek His face and not His hands. It’s not about getting a lesson or a sermon together. Become the dwelling place of God. Read Psalms 63.

Secondly, I have to deny myself. Colossians 3:5-14 tells us to put off selfishness and pride among out things. But don’t stop there. Paul goes on to say you also have to put on compassion, kindness, gentleness and patience. We are to put on Christ. This is the hard one! Because this takes spiritual discipline.

Thirdly, I have to be intentional. I have to look outside my world. I have to look outside my family and my work. I have to begin to see the needs of other people. I have to allow God to slow me down and have a willingness to use my gifts to love on people! Jesus went out of His way to love on the women at the well. What an example to follow.

Last but not least. We have to be willing to be uncomfortable! We have to put ourself out there and trust God for the results. We are not responsible for the harvest but we are called to plant the seed. Little by little. One brick at a time.
