Drifting?

I have to admit that I am not much a beach person these days. I can sit under an umbrella for two hours and I will get a sun burn! I can feel my skin bubbling up. My wife on the other hand, can lay out on a towel all day long and her skin will be a golden brown. The beach is just not my thing.

It hasn’t always been like that. I can remember as a child loving to go to the beach. We would have so much fun throwing a ball and building sand castles. We would take turns covering each other up with sand! Then we would run to the water and rinse off. Then we would play out in the water and get lost in everything that was going on! Then we would hear a voice saying, “Stay where we can see you, don’t drift off.” Those words went in one ear and out the other ear. We would continue to play and not pay much attention to my Father’s words.

It was so easy to get distracted with everything going on in the water. As a child you really don’t think about the danger that maybe all around you. You don’t think about the current and how that can pull you away from the place you are suppose to be. I remember looking up and not seeing my parents! I saw people on the shore but I didn’t recognize them. Where did they go? Have they left us out here by ourselves? We begin to look back down the shore and there they where. They were waving and saying something but I couldn’t hear them at all. We had drifted away and we didn’t even know it. It was so slow and gradual.

Have you drifted away from the one who loves you the most? Has Satan distracted you and pulled you away from your Father in a way that you haven’t even recognized what is really going on? You maybe asking your self this morning, “How did I get here?” Revelation 2:4-5 says, “Yet I hold this against you; You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen. “Drifted AWay” Repent and do the things you did at first.”

God is talking but you are so far away that you can’t hear what He is saying. God hasn’t left you but we have a tendency to drift. Look away from the distractions of this world and find your Father! Make your way back to Him today. It starts by saying I am sorry.

Have a great day!
