One of my greatest childhood memories happened every week day around 4:10 pm. My dad would come home from work. My dad was, and still is my super hero! I could tell you story after story of the love, sacrifice this man made for our family.
My dad worked at the Marine base here in Albany, Georgia and he would get off every day at 4:00. He would take about 10 minutes to get home. When he got home, there were three kids sitting on pins and needles ready to see their dad. As soon as he pulled up to the house, all three of would take our position at the top of the steps of our home. He would throw the car door open, and run to the bottom of the steps. And one by one we would jump into his arms! Every once in a while, I would forget to wait my turn, and me and my brother would jump at the same time! Never once, did I ever think he would drop me. I trusted him with all my heart. Almost every Friday, there would be a special treat in his front pocket for each one of us. Those were the good ole days!
That is a beautiful picture that will never be erased in my mind. But it’s also a word that we need to hear in our spiritual lives today. For most Christians today, we live in fear. Fear of what other people may think about us or fear of what will happen if I fully obeyed the Lord. So many of us are standing at the top step and wanting to jump into our Heavenly Fathers arms but fear is holding you back!
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, ” Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.” I don’t know what is holding you back from fully trusting the Lord today but He is calling you to take that leap of faith. Come to a point where you fully trust Him and you are willing to do whatever He has put in your heart! You may have tons of excuses, and reasons why you have never fully followed the Lord. But it is time to jump! You can trust Him, He will catch you every time and you might be surprised with what is in His front pocket! Haha.
Have a great Thursday!!
