Happy Mother’s Day!

Tomorrow we will celebrate our Mother’s, and we stop to say, “Thank you mom for all you do.” That should be a celebration that happens at least once a month! I can hear all the moms right now saying, “Amen.” How do we say thank you to the very one who birthed us, and has loved on us all these years? Through the good and the bad!

Proverbs 31:26-31 speaks of a virtuous woman but it also describes my mom. It says, “She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her family and doesn’t eat of the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, beauty is fleeting; but a women who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”

Those verses describe my mom to a T! Mom, thank you for all your encouraging words, sacrificial love, and your endless prayers! I can not put into words how much you means to me, and our family. I will never forget those early morning breakfasts, warm hugs and the many words of wisdom you spoke to me over the years. Watching you, taught me all about the love of Christ. You are the most unselfish person I know! You have always looked out for everybody else even when you were fighting cancer. I could see the pain in you eyes but you never once complained. I sit here in tear just thinking about all the great memories. You have blessed this family in so many ways! We love you Nana!

I also want to honor another lady, that is with the Lord now. We called her Mema! Nonnie Durham, you were one in a million! You always spoke kind words and you were the glue that held us all together! Everything you did, you did in love. From planting flowers, cutting hair, or giving advise. She always took her time, and she did things right. I will never forget my one hour haircuts! She was a Proverbs 31 woman!

To my wife of 32 years and the mother of my children. I saw firsthand what mothers go through to deliver their child into this world! Guys, we are whimps. Laura, you are a huge blessing to our family! You always go the extra mile in everything you do for us. Mema would be so proud of the children that you have raised! Thank you for all the sacrifices and the tireless hours you spent to keep us all going! You never cease to amaze me! Love you so much.

God bless Our Mother’s! Enjoy your weekend and don’t take life for granted. Celebrate the people in your life. Take time to thank them while you can!
