I wanted to share a quick outline from a great friend who preached on prayer. He simple asked, “What is prayer?”
Prayer is an act of dedication. Luke 15:7 says, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done.” The less we talk with the Lord, the more dependent we become on self. The more we pray, the less we depend on our self.
Prayer is an act communication. Poor communication causes huge problems! Try not talking with your spouse for a week. See how that works for you. John 15:15-16 reads like this, “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know His master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I have learned from my Father I have made know to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit-fruit that will last-and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
Prayer is an act of supplication. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present you request to the Lord. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and you mind in Jesus Christ.” God never shuts the storehouse doors until we shut our mouths. Go to you Father, He wants to hear from you!
Prayer is an act of cooperation. John 14:12-14 says, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father maybe glorified in the Son.” Wow, what a powerful verse! There are no limits when it comes to prayer.
With all that being said, the Lord is pushing us today to kick up our prayer life! There is power in prayer! Partner with the all powerful God of the universe and stop relying on self! Watch worry and stress disappear but we will have to learn how to trust Him. Let’s grow in our prayer life, and watch how God will change our hearts, and the lives of people around us! The God of miracles in the Bible is still the same God that lives in my heart today through power the Holy Spirit! Fall on your knees this morning, and let get our hearts right with Him and let us pray Heaven down and watch Satan shake!
Believe God’s Word today! You can trust it!
