Whose Knocking?

I have lived in Lee County Georgia most of my adult life. This is where we call home. For seven years me and my family lived at the corner of Main St and Starkville Rd. That house was called the Ginny Ford Hotel. There were so many great memories there and that is where we brought home our first born child. I will never forget the young skinny kid that lived across the street. This little kid had tons of energy and personality! He never meet a stranger and he sure wasn’t shy. One day I was out in the yard and he yelled across the street, “Do you want to play catch?” Then I yelled back, “Sure do!” That started a great relationship with a dear young friend. I couldn’t tell you how many times we played basketball, threw the baseball, or just sat down and wrote some crazy songs off the top of my our heads. He was kinda like my little brother. I could tell you so many stories!

That little kid was Luke Bryan. That’s right, the country music star that travels the world and fills stadiums all over this country. Even though I never see him, I have never stopped praying for him weekly! One day he is going to publish our first song, “Where is the Sun.” 😁 Maybe not. I still love the song about the three legged dog!

I said all that to say this. If Luke were to knock on your door at your house today, whether you liked his music or not. You would open the door, invite him in, and roll out the red carpet. You would probably take pictures, call all your friends, and talk about it for a long long time.

Revelation 3:20 says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” I know Luke is famous, rich, a great guy, and someone I love dearly. But great as he is in this world, one day he will bow before Jesus.

So why then, do so many never open up the door for Jesus? Why don’t we roll out the red carpet and offer Him our very best? Why don’t we invite Him in, call all our friends, and tell everybody who just came to our house?

Lord, change our perspective! Help us to see what is most important and what will last and what will fade away. Lord, use me to tell this world about the One who could change their life forever and ever! Luke is a human-being with flaws just like you and me. But Jesus holds life in His hands! Open the door, welcome Him in. It will be the greatest decision you will ever make! Love you guys and thanks for reading! God bless!
