What Drives You?

Good morning friend! It is Tuesday and it is time to dive into the Word of God. I want to start by asking you a simple question. What drives your life? Think about it, everyone is driven by something. What is it?

Some people are driven by guilt. They spend their whole life running from regret and bad decisions. They allow their past to control their future. But the good news is, God is not limited by your past! I know great men of God in His Word that messed up big time, and He still did a great work in their lives! He can do the same in your life.

Some are driven by resentment and anger. Instead of forgiving and letting things go, we tend to hang on and never forgiving. Resentment always hurts you more than it does the other person. Your past is the past. You are only hurting yourself with your bitterness. Forgive and let it go. It will take a load off of you.

Many people are driven by fear. Fear is a lier and it keeps you from God’s best! 1 John 14:18 says, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” Embrace God’s love through faith in Jesus Christ. God hasn’t given us a spirit of fear!

Here is a good one. Many of us are driven by materialism. The desire to acquire! Trying to keep up with the Jones’s. Sad thing about it is, possession only provides a temporary happiness and then you still have to pay for it! Those things we thought would bring us fulfillment and joy will leave us empty. Real security can only be found in a love relationship with Jesus.

Last but not least, some people are driven by the need for approval. Those who follow the crowd usually get lost in it. One key to failure is to try and please everyone. We can not be controlled by the opinion of other! Nothing matters more than knowing God’s purpose for your life. No success, fame, or material thing can replace that.

We all get out of wack sooner or later. So many times our priorities seem to be all out of order. I can’t tell you how many times I have had to stop and ask myself, ” How did I get here.” Matthew 6:24 says, “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” Put God first and let go of the past. Give God your fears, and your worldly desires that are driving you. Only He can satisfy and complete you! Love you guys! I hope you have a great Tuesday.
