Nana and Papa

What a great Thanksgiving! How blessed are we? Even though Thanksgiving Day is over, we need to remain thankful. I don’t know about you, but I had more than plenty to eat. I do know, I will be hitting that gym today, but I do have one plate of leftovers still waiting on me in the refrigerator! 💥

Proverbs 16:31 says, “Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life.” In the spirit of Thanksgiving I want to honor my parents. Most people today know them as Nana and Papa. What can a guy say about two people who have meant the world to him? Words cannot describe the impact they have had on me and my family! From a early age they taught us about the love of Christ. Not only did we go to church Sunday, it was taught in our home. The Bible didn’t just sit on a coffee table and become a decoration piece. It was honored and respected. My parents also taught us how to work and make sacrifices for those you love. Over and over again, they made sacrifice after sacrifice for me, my brother, and my sister. We were not rich but I sure did feel like it. Nana and papa were involved in every aspect of my life! Papa wouldn’t miss a practice or a game. He would always take time to talk with my buddies on my football team, and adopt them as his own. Nana was my consent encourager! Her hugs would melt you heart and fix almost every problem. But she could be tough when I acted up! They both taught me how to love unconditionally, and they showed me what a real marriage was all about. I just wanted to honor the two most influential people in my life, and give them the honor that is due them both!

Lord, help us all to be grateful and thankful today! Help us all to express how we feel about each other, and not take one another for granted. Bless my sweet Nana and Papa! Amen.
