Today is the day! It is LSU and my Georgia Bulldogs! I hate to say it, and I hope I am wrong, but LSU may have to much firepower for us to win. Today millions of people will grill out, invite friends over, and sit in front of a TV yelling at the coaches and players. Most of these people have never played a down of football in their life! But yet, they are now an football expert! When I was young, I remember playing football from sun up to sun down! Yes, football is fun and exciting, but in the grand scheme of things, does it really matter? I would love to see Georgia stay at #4 and get a shot at a National Championship, but it won’t change my life!

I want to share Isaiah 53:3-7 with you this morning. This scripture tells us of the great sacrifice that Jesus made for me and you! But before I share it, I want us to think about how we take Jesus’s love and grace for granted! How many days go by and we never say thank you? How many times have we heard this preached or taught, and we sit there and not be overwhelmed? We get more passionate about a football game than we are about the God of the universe! Isaiah 53:3-7 says, “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrow, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he didn’t open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter; as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.” Jesus willing left the splendor of Heaven and laid down his life on a rugged cross, to save a sorry fellow like me! He took the punishment that I deserved! He overcame sin and death so I can experience true life and His amazing grace! Now that is worth cheering for! That is worth celebrating and this Truth will change your life! God bless and have a great time today!
