Plug It In

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are in a secure relationship with God that can not be altered. John 10:27-28 tell us this, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.” That is a promise from the lips of Jesus! Because of Jesus, we have fellowship with God, and we become part of His family. As God’s children, we have the privilege to call on Him for wisdom and strength. But keep in mind, our union with God depends on His grace. There is nothing we can do to earn this favor. We are now connected to the greatest power source know to man, because of our relationship to Jesus Christ!

I vacuum my house about 3 times a week. I don’t enjoy it, but it is just something I do. What would happen if I took that vacuum cleaner, and pushed it all over my house, and I covered ever square inch of my floor. But, I forget to plug it in! What good would I have done? I would just be going through the motions, and would have wasted a lot of energy and accomplished nothing. I have to plug my vacuum cleaner into the power source to be effective! As the Church, we need to get plugged into the ultimate power source! We are trying to do the work of God through our own strength and power. Most of the time, we are just going through the motions and wasting so much energy, and not believing God for the impossible. Jesus spoke these words in John 14:12-14, “I tell you the truth, any one who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son May be glory to the Father.” Does that blow you away? It should. It’s time to get plugged in Church! Dive deep into God’s Word and stand on His promises. Pray huge prayers that could only be accomplished through the power of God. Dream big because we have a Big God. Don’t back down or shrink back, but get plugged in and allow the power of the Holy Spirit empower you. Thank you Lord for your grace and the privilege to be a child of God!
