Don’t Cry

Luke 7:11-13 says, “Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out-the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t Cry.”

Can you imagine what God’s timing for the widow in this story must have been like. This poor widow had lost her husband and now her only son. She was hurting and she had to be overwhelmed! As their paths crossed, Jesus said to the widow, “Don’t cry.” Do what? Don’t cry? Did Jesus realize what she had just experienced? Can’t you see that my only son is dead? But Jesus didn’t say don’t cry to offend her, but to give her hope. Jesus was about to teach us that God is never late. His timing is perfect. Jesus walked over to the coffin and said to the son, “Get up!” Luke 7:15 says, “The dead man sat up and begin to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.” Can you imagine that union? God is never late! You may feel like you are in a hopeless situation and you feel overwhelmed. You maybe experiencing frustration, and you feel like your prayers are not being answered. Know this, if God can answer a widow’s prayer to heal her son, he can give you exactly what you need at exactly the right time. It may not be right now, but at the right time! Hang in there. God bless.
