Get ur Done?

Good morning! It’s Sunday and I could have slept in a little longer but God had me praying about my devotion this morning! I usually ask the Lord to give me something to share every morning but this morning was different! He was throwing small phrases at me left and right. So I got on up and begin to write them down, and I want to share them with you. Maybe one of them will grab your heart. Hold on because there is no telling where this devotional is going to go!

Here is a list of the phrases God was handing to me this morning: choose happiness, listen and don’t judge, be a loyal friend, share your blessings, don’t forget to smile, honor others, slow down and enjoy Me, keep your promises, forgive and forget, and don’t forget to hug and say I love you! What a crazy list but which one is jumping off the page to you?

I don’t know about you, but I am a task oriented person. I love to make a list and get things done! Sometimes I find it hard to stop or slow down, till those things are done and off the list. Being so consumed with completing the job, there are times I loss sight of the blessings around me, times I should reflect with thankfulness but I don’t, or the relationships that I take for granted!

Here is a great example of what I am talking about! If I am going on a trip from point A to point B. Know this, I have a plan! I know what time I am going to leave and I know what time I want to be there! There is no room for a traffic jam and no unnecessary stops! If we do stop, it will be short and quick. I am focused and determined to get to my destination on time! But God has been showing me how to slow down and enjoy the ride and learning how to appreciate the little things along the way! How many wonderful things and sites did I miss out on because I couldn’t slow down?

It’s great to want to be successful and productive in this life but don’t forget to slow down and enjoy the little blessings that sometimes goes unnoticed! Lord, I can be so selfish at times and so consumed with my problems that I miss out on what really brings me joy! Bless someone today! Go out of your way to show someone how special they are. Write a letter, give them a hug, or just bake them a cake! How can you make a difference in someone else today? Take time to enjoy the view, family and friends!

1 John 4:11 says, “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” Love God, Love People! Love you guys!!

Personal Prayer

I really don’t like sharing my own personal prayers that I write to God. Because people will be able to see my thoughts and even my struggles. But God calls us to be real and transparent. So here we go.

I made a decision to follow You when I was 5 years old. I am now 52 years old, so that means I have been a Christian for 47 years! No news to you. You would think I would have it down by now.

One would think I could live out my life in such a way where I would never let You down. You would think, I would have Satan figured out and I could explain his every move. I would love to say, I could know and believe every verse of the Bible and never waiver. But there is one verse that I am still trying to get a hold on to! Help me with this Lord.

John 14:11-12 says, “Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” Lord, You did something that blows me away. Like healing the sick, raising the dead, feed the 5000, and walked on water! Raise my level of faith this morning! Christ in me, the Hope of all Glory lives inside of me! Help me today to practice what You are showing me.

Lord, I know you Word is Truth! But help my unbelief, doubt, and my fears. It has become so easy to slide into the routine of religion and just do church. Forgive me Lord, when I pray small prayers that require no faith. Forgive me, when I come to you not expecting miracles or believe that lives will not be changed.

Help me stand on your truth and strengthen my faith in You! Make me strong in you and help me to live a life of faith that will please you! Help me to hear You and pray the prayers that you would pray today!

To You be all the Glory forever and ever! Amen!

Throw Down Your Staff

Life can be a battle, and there will be times when you fall. But in God’s Kingdom, failure is never final. We will not win every spiritual battle but the war has already been won! The victory was sealed 2000 years ago when Jesus overcame sin, and death! When we have a setback, don’t take a step back, because God is already preparing your comeback.

How many of you have ever heard of a man named Moses? Everybody has heard of Moses, even unbelievers knows about him. He was a great man of God that would lead Israel out of Egypt. In Exodus 2:11-15, instead of doing God’s will, God’s way. Moses took matters in his own hands and killed an Egyptian taskmaster.

Moses ran and hid on the backside of the desert in a place called Midian. Moses really messes things up pretty good. Have you ever been in Moses situation? You have messed up, made a mistake, and you sinned against God. Then you ran! You ran from God and you wanted to get as far away from Him as you could. You found your own Midian.

To many people give up on their dream because they feel God has given up on them. No matter how many wrong turns or detours you may make, God’s grace is enough! Look at it this way, failure is the fertilizer that grows character.

Moses encountered God in chapter 3 of Exodus at the burning bush, and it changed his life forever! God revealed His plan to Moses that day and Moses said, “Who Am I?” Moses was thinking how can I do that? Look at what I have done. This great man of God made all kind of excuses, one after another. Does that sound familiar?

It’s not about who you are but it all about who He is! Exodus 4:1-3 says, “Moses answered, What if they don’t believe me or listen to me and say, “The Lord did not appear to you.” The the Lord said to him, “What’s in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied. The Lord said, ” Throw it on the ground.” God is say to many of us, “Throw down your staff.” We need to take our hands off the controls! Moses staff represented his identity and his security. God was asking Moses to let go of who he was and what he had. This was Moses all in moment!

What are you holding on to? What is holding you back? Lord, touch the hearts of your people this morning and speak to them in a way that only You can do! Have a blessed day!

What’s Around the Corner?

Genesis 12:1 says, “The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.”

How tough would that be if you were in Abram’s shoes? I bet Abram was thinking, “What’s around the corner.” The Lord gave Abram no leads, no specifics, and no details of what was next! Would there be opposition, danger or a blessing of a life time? This will definitely require some faith!

But God also gave Abram a promise. Look at Genesis 12:2-3, “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curse you I will curse; and all people on earth will be blessed through you.” God made a promise to Abram and God came through with great miracles!

That was not an easy decision for Abram to make. Abram had the power to say yes or no. Should he stay in his comfort zone or be obedient to what God was directing him to do? Well, you know the story. Abram obeyed God even tho it didn’t make sense. But the question still remained; What’s around the corner?

What has God placed in front of you today? What has He been preparing you to do your entire life? Will you be obedient? Will you travel that path that God has called you to?

If you are in Christ, I believe He has a plan and a promise for you too! It may require great faith, and perseverance. Because that road may not always be paved and smooth! But if you are called to travel that road, there is good news! You will never have to travel alone. He will be with you every step of the way. That is a promise.

I want to encourage you to walk in faith, be obedient, and trust Him every step of the way. Don’t give up and keep pressing forward. No one can be 100% sure of what’s around the corner in their lives. But I know, I will be walking with the One who can see around the corner and who has already travel this road!

Hope you have a great Thursday! God bless!
