For His Pleasure

Why do you exist? I want to challenge you this morning to stop long enough to answer this question. What is your response?

We exist for His benefit, His glory, His purpose, and His delight! Bringing pleasure to God is called worship. Anything you do that brings pleasure to God is an act of worship. If we fail to worship God, we will always find a substitute. Many people think of worship as songs we sing at church, but worship is far more than this. Worship is a lifestyle. Every activity can be transformed into an act of worship when we do it for the praise, glory, and pleasure of God. We all have our music style that we like best. But our music style says more about us, than it says about God. When we worship, our goal is to bring pleasure to God, not ourselves.

If you ever said, “I didn’t get anything out of worship today,” you worshiped for the wrong reason. I am so guilty! Worship isn’t for you. It’s for God. Our purpose is to bring glory and honor to our Creator. Isaiah 29:13 says this, “The Lord says: These people come near to me with their mouths and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made of only rules taught by men.” The people were offering fancy, meaningless, and empty words. They were just going through the motions of man made rituals. Have you ever be there?

How can we do everything to the glory of God? By doing everything as if you were doing it for Jesus. Even your work can become your worship, if you dedicate it to God and perform it with an awareness of His presence. Yes, even cleaning out my gutters can be a form of worship today! Be aware of His presence today and worship the King!

Cleaning Out The Gutters

Good morning friend! It is Friday and it is time to clean out the gutters, and put out some pine straw! You are more than welcome to come by and help. I will cook up some good old fashioned hotdogs, and we could have a great time.

This is the first house I ever owned with gutters. I understand it helps direct the water flow from the roof, and it works great when the gutters are free of pine straw and leaves. I am guilty of not cleaning them out as I should, and I have allowed them to get out of hand. Now the water flow is restricted and my gutters are not directing the water to the proper areas. I have been putting this task off for some time, and I have used every excuse under the sun to not get it done. No more excuses! I will free my gutters and let the water flow once again! I will get it done!

What about your spiritual gutters? Has trash and other things clogged them up? Has the spiritual flow been restricted? Have we been so busy with everything else that you have neglected what really needs to be handled? Let today be the day you get it done, and stop making excuses for neglecting your spiritual gutters! David knew what it was like to have his spiritual gutter full of trash, and his water flow all clogged up! He was miserable and desperate, so he cried out to the Lord for help. Hear his cry in Psalm 51:1-2, “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion, “clean out my gutters.” Wash away all my iniquities and cleanse me from my sin.” Psalm 51:10-12 says, “Create in me a pure hear, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Don’t cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of my salvation!” David used a prayer of forgiveness to clean out his spiritual gutters and it allowed his spirit flow to move again! His joy was restored. Today is the day. Get before the Lord and get it done! Love ya.

What Matters Most

My heart is so full this morning and I have so much to share, but I just don’t have the time to get it all in! One of my greatest passions in life is to share God Word and to make it fun to understand God’s truths. I know the difference that Jesus can make in ones life! My heart is to see others come to a saving knowledge of knowing Jesus, and growing in that relationship, and then share it with the world. God equip me to do your work, and let your name be glorified because of it.

1 Corinthians 13:3 says, “No matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I am bankrupt without love.” 2 John 1:6 tells us this, “Love means living the way God commanded us to live. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is this; Live a life of love.” Because God is love, the most important lesson He wants us to learn here on earth is how to love. It is in loving that we are most like Him. But learning to love unselfishly is not always easy! He wants His family to be known for its love more than anything else. But know this, busyness is one of the greatest enemies of building relationships and loving others. It’s so easy to get preoccupied with making a living, paying bills, and doing life. The point of life is learning to love God and the people around you. Love last forever! Love leaves a legacy. Mother Teresa said, “It’s not what you do, but how much love you put into it that matters.”

Thank you Lord. I needed to hear this. Have a great day and please be careful in all this bad weather. Love you guys!😁

His Persistent Love

Good morning friend! Where did the weekend go? God’s love is something that is so hard to grasp or fully understand, because His love is so deep and pure. The Bible is full of verses proclaiming God’s persistence love, and I want to share a few with you this morning.

Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning. Psalm 135:1-3 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His loves endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords; His love endures forever. 1 Corinthians 13:7-8 says, “Love knows no limit to its endurance, no end to its trust, no fading of its hope; it can outlast anything. It is, in fact, the one thing that stands when all else has fallen. This is just the tip of the iceberg!

Take time this morning to thank Him for His amazing love! He loves you so much, and His love has no limits! The message of the gospel is that when we couldn’t get to God, He came to us! He pursued us. His love never fades. Thank you Lord. I hope you have a great Monday.

What Makes You An Overcomer?

Let’s look at 1 John 5:1-5, “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. This is love for God: to obey his commands. And His commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” This is a very need word in our lives today!

Man working for God is one thing, but God working in man is quite another. What we have in our world today is a system of religion that encourages us to work for God. This kind of work is frustrating and fruitless most of the time. But when we finally see the truth, it is actually God who works in man, this truth will be the game changer. Victory is a gift I receive in the Person of Jesus Christ. Victory is not something I win, but Someone I receive in my life. John asked a very important question, “Who is it that overcomes the world.” How will you answer this question today? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God can experience true victory. That is not my opinion, but that is straight from the Word of God! Love you guys!

Your Rights?

Philippians 2:7-8 says, “Jesus made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-even death on a cross.” There is no greater example of humility than Jesus. He laid down His royal position to pursue you and me. Think about this; He knew He would be betrayed, spit on, and hung on a cross. But He came anyways! Jesus gave up His rights, to obey God and to serve us. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice and willing laid down His life on an old rugged cross. Jesus, the Son of God, the picture of ultimate power, humbly set His rights aside. He chose humility because He loves perfectly. Love was His motivation.

What “rights” are you hanging on to today? Know this, when we lay down our rights, we pick up His righteousness. Our broken world is desperately seeking the hope we have in Jesus. Love came down from Heaven in it’s truest form. Jesus, your love overwhelms me today! Let us never lose the wonder of your great love. God bless and have a great Wednesday.

Good morning! I hope you had a great Saturday with your family and friends. I was blessed with some time with my youngest daughter up in North Georgia, watching some soccer. God is so good. Let Him know just how good He is this morning.

Psalms 1: 6 says, “For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.” Thank you Lord for your Word and the promise of your watchfulness! Because of the blood of Jesus Christ, I can experience real love, forgiveness, and grace! And yes, also eternal life through Jesus Christ my Lord! Praise You Lord!

Matthew 25:31-33 Jesus says this, “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on the right and the goats on the left.” God’s Word say it, and I believe it! What about you? Which group do you belong in this morning? Goat or a sheep?

Matthew 25:34 says, “Then the King will say to those on the right, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.” Can you imagine that day? O my goodness! If that doesn’t get you excited this morning, there is something wrong with you! Take your inheritance! Are you kidding me! Thank you Jesus!

Then Matthew 25:41 writes, “Then he will say to those on his left, “Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” Again, God’s Words says it, and I believe it! Hell is a real place with a real fire. Those without a relationship with Jesus will spend eternity there. Can you imagine the pain, the torment, the agony, and no way to escape it?

Take a look now at Matthew 25:45. Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. Which do you choose today? One thing I am learning about life is this, we are not guaranteed tomorrow! Eternity is one heart beat away.

Sheep or Goat? Heaven or Hell? Live for Jesus or live for self? I choose Jesus! God bless you and your family today.

Think About That

It’s Monday and it’s time to get back to the grind! Laura and I have both girls in their place and settle into where God has planted them. Carsen is starting her new job at The Grove Church in Titusville, Florida as the Children’s Director. Mackenzie is up in North Georgia at Truett McConnell University playing soccer and getting her degree. They are about 9 hours away from each other. Where does time go? I blinked my eyes and they are all grown!

Like many of you, I remember the day my children were born. I remember looking into their eyes for the first time and taking them into my arms and loving on them. My life has never been the same since. Don’t get me wrong, there have been days where they have drove me crazy! Till this day, I would die for them. If I were to be honest, there are not many people on this earth who I would willing give my life for. Especially not someone who would hurt me, my family, or my close friends.

I was reading Romans 5:6-8 this morning and God’s love blew me away! It’s says, “You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrated his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” It’s so hard to comprehend that kind of sacrificial love! Sit down this morning and try to wrap your head around those verses.

I can understand why Jesus would die for Carsen or Mackenzie. I would do that! But Jesus also died for that Roman solider that nailed him to the cross and for the one who spit in his face! What kind of love would it take to love someone like that? It would take an amazing love and supreme grace! He willing laid down His life for us. Even the ones who I think don’t deserve it.

Lord, help me not to take that kind of love for granted! Thank you for loving me enough to send your own Son to die for me! I know there have been times in my life where I have drove you crazy, but you never once stopped loving me! That is a crazy kind of love! Think about that amazing love and what a blessing it is to be loved by the God of the universe. Happy Monday!!
