Growing In Christ

Good morning my friend! It is Friday and another weekend of college football is just around the corner! But let’s don’t look past today! We have another day to breathe, live , and to share life together. Tell me this morning what you are thankful for. I am serious! I would like for you to respond back and tell everybody what God has blessed you with today! Be thankful on this beautiful Friday morning!

I want to challenge you this morning to read Romans 12:2, and then read it over and over again. Then ask God to open up His spiritual window and reveal to you what this means for your life. Ask Him to show you intimate details of your life that we choose to overlook or neglect. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

God is calling each of us to be different from this world. We can not conform to this world any longer! He is calling you to grow in the image of Christ this morning. Our Heavenly Father desire for us is to mature and develop the characteristics of Jesus Christ. But so many times, we get stuck and we fall into a deep spiritual rut. Listen, spiritual growth is not automatic. It takes and intentional commitment. We must have that “want to” to grow! That decision begins with you.

For change to take place, we have to change the way we think! Ephesians 4:23-24 says, “To be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Be careful how we think, because our life is shaped by our thoughts. Sometimes we try to change by sure will power. Yes, will power can produce short-term change, but it will also creates a lot of tension and stress in your life. Ask God to take over! To be like Christ we must develop the mind of Christ. Philippians 2:5 says, “Our attitude should be the same as that of Jesus Christ.” Grow us Lord and help our attitude to be more like Christ. But also help us to mature by thinking more about others than ourself. Our deeds must be consistent with our creeds, and our beliefs must be backed up with Christlike behavior. Thinking of others is the heart of Christlikeness and the best evidence of spiritual growth!

Give those negative thoughts to the Lord this morning! Ask God to renew you mind and soften your heart. Ask God to take over and hand Him the controls to you life. Be transformed! Be different! Are you ready to enjoy life? God bless!

The second part of

Something Different

It is Wednesday! It’s Hump Day. I want to do something a little different this morning. God placed on my heart, a couple of verses that are very rich in truth. I was lead to write out these verses in my blog, and then ask you just to think about, what these verses mean to your life. I want to encourage you to pray over this scripture and ask the Lord to shine light in darkness. He ask me not to give my thoughts or comments. Here we go!

Luke 6:43-46 says, No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thorn bushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stores up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.” Why do you call me, “Lord”, and do not do what I say?

How would you answer this question that Jesus asked us? Lord, speak to the heart of my friends reading today! I pray for changed hearts and changed lives in Jesus’s name. I hope you have a great Wednesday!


Good morning! I want to cover some powerful verses in a very short blog. God’s Word is powerful and life changing! There doesn’t have to be fancy illustration or creative words to see lives changed. God work in our hearts this morning!

1 Corinthians 15:54-57 says,”Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!” Because He lives I can face tomorrow! Because He lives all fear in gone! He holds our future, and life is worth living just because He lives! We are VICTORIOUS because of the blood of Jesus Christ!

1 John 5:4-5 says, “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” If you are in Christ you are an overcomer! Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world! You are a child of the King and it is time to walk in victory. You are not a victim but you are a power warrior of the living King. Jesus paid a very high price for this victory, now it is time for us to walk it out!

Walk in victory and not defeat! You are an overcomer and a mighty warrior! Choose this day whom you will serve. Rise up Church and let our lives bring Him Glory!

I don’t know about you, but one of my main jobs growing up was to take the trash out. And to this day, I still take the trash out at my house! It is amazing how much garbage one can get in a trash bag. Sometimes I will just wait to see just how full it can get, before someone takes the lid off and sets it to the side, and just walk away! Really? Are you really going to walk away with the trash can full to over flowing, with the lid off?

It doesn’t take long for trash to start smelling. My wife may get mad at me for writing this, but we have to be real with each other. We don’t have many left overs at our house, but when we do, I like to put it in a container and take it to work the for next day or two. But for some reason or another, that container got pushed to the back of the refrigerator and sat there for quite some time! When my wife discovered this, I was quickly put in charge of getting rid of it. Being the good husband I am, I took the container of spoiled food and dump it into the trash can and went on about my business. I was thinking, I will take it out later. I did what I was asked to do. No big deal! I will put it off for a few minutes and then take it out.

We had to go into town for a couple of hours to get a few things done. After our to do list was done in town, we decided to head back to the house. I remember opening the door and walking in! O my goodness! The first words out of Laura’s mouth was, “What is that smell?” I knew I had messed up! I went straight to the trash can, pulled out the bag of trash and took it outside immediately! If you know Laura, she headed straight to the Lysol wipes and the febreze! Men, don’t forget to take out the trash.

Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, what ever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.” Trash in, trash out! I want to ask you a couple of questions to get you thinking this morning. What do you fill you mind with throughout the day? What voices are you choosing to listen to? What are you watching on the the TV, cell phone, or your computer? We allow this world to fill our minds up with so much trash! We play it off like it is no big deal, and we get so busy, and we don’t stop and deal with it. We lie to ourselves and say, “I will handle it later.” Now it is really starting to smell.

I going to be straight forward with you this morning. I feel God is telling us this morning to take the trash out! There is junk in our life that we have allowed to build up, and we have pushed it off long enough. There is that hidden sin that is buried under pretense and lies, that is eating you alive. Don’t put off what God is asking you to do. Have you ever noticed that sin will find you out no matter how we try to disguise it? It’s like that spoiled food in my trash can!

No matter what it is, He still loves you! There is nothing that you can do that will make Him stop loving you. Nothing! He is calling you this morning to me real with Him, and get things right with Him. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify is from ALL unrighteousness.” Take the trash out this morning and allow God to refresh you and clean you up! There is a lot of more power in the blood of Jesus Christ than Lysol and Febreze! Amen!!! God bless!

Get ur Done?

Good morning! It’s Sunday and I could have slept in a little longer but God had me praying about my devotion this morning! I usually ask the Lord to give me something to share every morning but this morning was different! He was throwing small phrases at me left and right. So I got on up and begin to write them down, and I want to share them with you. Maybe one of them will grab your heart. Hold on because there is no telling where this devotional is going to go!

Here is a list of the phrases God was handing to me this morning: choose happiness, listen and don’t judge, be a loyal friend, share your blessings, don’t forget to smile, honor others, slow down and enjoy Me, keep your promises, forgive and forget, and don’t forget to hug and say I love you! What a crazy list but which one is jumping off the page to you?

I don’t know about you, but I am a task oriented person. I love to make a list and get things done! Sometimes I find it hard to stop or slow down, till those things are done and off the list. Being so consumed with completing the job, there are times I loss sight of the blessings around me, times I should reflect with thankfulness but I don’t, or the relationships that I take for granted!

Here is a great example of what I am talking about! If I am going on a trip from point A to point B. Know this, I have a plan! I know what time I am going to leave and I know what time I want to be there! There is no room for a traffic jam and no unnecessary stops! If we do stop, it will be short and quick. I am focused and determined to get to my destination on time! But God has been showing me how to slow down and enjoy the ride and learning how to appreciate the little things along the way! How many wonderful things and sites did I miss out on because I couldn’t slow down?

It’s great to want to be successful and productive in this life but don’t forget to slow down and enjoy the little blessings that sometimes goes unnoticed! Lord, I can be so selfish at times and so consumed with my problems that I miss out on what really brings me joy! Bless someone today! Go out of your way to show someone how special they are. Write a letter, give them a hug, or just bake them a cake! How can you make a difference in someone else today? Take time to enjoy the view, family and friends!

1 John 4:11 says, “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” Love God, Love People! Love you guys!!
