Good morning my friend! It is Friday and another weekend of college football is just around the corner! But let’s don’t look past today! We have another day to breathe, live , and to share life together. Tell me this morning what you are thankful for. I am serious! I would like for you to respond back and tell everybody what God has blessed you with today! Be thankful on this beautiful Friday morning!
I want to challenge you this morning to read Romans 12:2, and then read it over and over again. Then ask God to open up His spiritual window and reveal to you what this means for your life. Ask Him to show you intimate details of your life that we choose to overlook or neglect. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
God is calling each of us to be different from this world. We can not conform to this world any longer! He is calling you to grow in the image of Christ this morning. Our Heavenly Father desire for us is to mature and develop the characteristics of Jesus Christ. But so many times, we get stuck and we fall into a deep spiritual rut. Listen, spiritual growth is not automatic. It takes and intentional commitment. We must have that “want to” to grow! That decision begins with you.
For change to take place, we have to change the way we think! Ephesians 4:23-24 says, “To be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Be careful how we think, because our life is shaped by our thoughts. Sometimes we try to change by sure will power. Yes, will power can produce short-term change, but it will also creates a lot of tension and stress in your life. Ask God to take over! To be like Christ we must develop the mind of Christ. Philippians 2:5 says, “Our attitude should be the same as that of Jesus Christ.” Grow us Lord and help our attitude to be more like Christ. But also help us to mature by thinking more about others than ourself. Our deeds must be consistent with our creeds, and our beliefs must be backed up with Christlike behavior. Thinking of others is the heart of Christlikeness and the best evidence of spiritual growth!
Give those negative thoughts to the Lord this morning! Ask God to renew you mind and soften your heart. Ask God to take over and hand Him the controls to you life. Be transformed! Be different! Are you ready to enjoy life? God bless!
