Jesus Stopped!

Good morning! I don’t have to tell you what day it is but I am going to say it anyway! Thank God it is Friday! Yes sir!

I want to share a scripture that jump off the page yesterday, that left me in tears. Matthew 20:29-31 says, “As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when the heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” They were in desperate need of a Savior! Can you hear the screams of our world today? There is so much going on around us, more than ever before! The world is shouting out because of the hatred, pain, suffering, and confusion in their lives.

Matthew 20:32-34 says, “Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” He asked. “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.” Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.”

Jesus stopped! The Savior of the world stopped what He was doing for 2 blind men. With everything going on around him, he still saw the hurt in other people’s lives. He had compassion on them and healed them. We can become so busy and tied up with the things of this world, that we become calloused and selfish. Lord, help me this morning to see people the way you see them! Take away my judgmental spirit! Forgive me Lord when I am so busy that I pass by or ignore those who are shouting out in pain and hurt! Lord, help me to stop! I want a heart like Jesus. Fill me with compassion that will change the world.

Who is shouting out in desperate need today? Take time to stop. God bless you and I pray that you have a great weekend!

Ready, Set, Go

Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Do we believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Do we believe that He is the light of the world? Do we believe He is the King of kings? Do we believe He is the source of hope, joy, and happiness? Do we believe that He can make a difference in the hearts of people?

Then why is the church so quiet? Why aren’t we shouting the name of Jesus from the rooftops and why are so many churches struggling, empty, and fighting to pay the bills?

It’s time for the church to wake up, we have been quiet long enough. I pray that God will open our spiritual eyes and help us to see as He sees. I also pray this morning that You will stir up a spirit of urgency, spirit of compassion, and a spirit of love like never before.

He is calling us to Go! Go into a lost and dying world and love people to Jesus Christ. We are living in a world that is hurting, lonely, and broken. It is time to engage our hearts and our hands, and put into action what we really believe.

Matthew 9:35-36 says, “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like a sheep without a shepherd.”

Jesus is calling us to a grander vision of living. A grander vision of living is seeing what is eternal and what is temporary. Jesus loves people and he genuinely cares for them. Lord, help us to see through the eyes of Christ! Give us a heart of compassion and kill out our selfishness and pride! Burden our hearts for those who don’t know Christ.

The time is now. What has God put in your heart? Who has He out in front of you? What message has He given you to share? Ready, Set, Go!
