The Noise Of Our Culture

Jim was a grocery store clerk and he loved his job. He was a hard worker, and he was very intentional with his customers. But Jim’s one pet peeve was out of control toddlers and parents who yelled at their kids, but did nothing about it. One evening, Jim was checking out a customer who had a shopping cart full of groceries. While ringing up the sale, a child behind him begin screaming loudly, and a angry man responded by shouting, “Get down!” Jim thought, “What a jerk” without even looking up. He kept calling out prices and moving the groceries past the scanner. The kid was still crying and again the man yelled, “Get down!” Talking about poor parenting, this guy was a total jerk. Jim keep on checking groceries out without looking up. Finally, he finished and Jim looked up and said, “That will be $89.95. Seeing no one, he looked around and noticed everyone including his customers, lying face down on the floor. He turned around just in time to see the gunman running out of the store. The clerk behind him, still on the floor said, “Jim, you know the second time you heard get down, his gun was pointed at your head!” We get so accustomed to the noise of our culture and the distraction of the world, that when we hear something important, we blow it off as if it was insignificant.

2 Corinthians 6:2, “I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” Take time to look up!

For His Pleasure

Why do you exist? I want to challenge you this morning to stop long enough to answer this question. What is your response?

We exist for His benefit, His glory, His purpose, and His delight! Bringing pleasure to God is called worship. Anything you do that brings pleasure to God is an act of worship. If we fail to worship God, we will always find a substitute. Many people think of worship as songs we sing at church, but worship is far more than this. Worship is a lifestyle. Every activity can be transformed into an act of worship when we do it for the praise, glory, and pleasure of God. We all have our music style that we like best. But our music style says more about us, than it says about God. When we worship, our goal is to bring pleasure to God, not ourselves.

If you ever said, “I didn’t get anything out of worship today,” you worshiped for the wrong reason. I am so guilty! Worship isn’t for you. It’s for God. Our purpose is to bring glory and honor to our Creator. Isaiah 29:13 says this, “The Lord says: These people come near to me with their mouths and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made of only rules taught by men.” The people were offering fancy, meaningless, and empty words. They were just going through the motions of man made rituals. Have you ever be there?

How can we do everything to the glory of God? By doing everything as if you were doing it for Jesus. Even your work can become your worship, if you dedicate it to God and perform it with an awareness of His presence. Yes, even cleaning out my gutters can be a form of worship today! Be aware of His presence today and worship the King!

Cleaning Out The Gutters

Good morning friend! It is Friday and it is time to clean out the gutters, and put out some pine straw! You are more than welcome to come by and help. I will cook up some good old fashioned hotdogs, and we could have a great time.

This is the first house I ever owned with gutters. I understand it helps direct the water flow from the roof, and it works great when the gutters are free of pine straw and leaves. I am guilty of not cleaning them out as I should, and I have allowed them to get out of hand. Now the water flow is restricted and my gutters are not directing the water to the proper areas. I have been putting this task off for some time, and I have used every excuse under the sun to not get it done. No more excuses! I will free my gutters and let the water flow once again! I will get it done!

What about your spiritual gutters? Has trash and other things clogged them up? Has the spiritual flow been restricted? Have we been so busy with everything else that you have neglected what really needs to be handled? Let today be the day you get it done, and stop making excuses for neglecting your spiritual gutters! David knew what it was like to have his spiritual gutter full of trash, and his water flow all clogged up! He was miserable and desperate, so he cried out to the Lord for help. Hear his cry in Psalm 51:1-2, “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion, “clean out my gutters.” Wash away all my iniquities and cleanse me from my sin.” Psalm 51:10-12 says, “Create in me a pure hear, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Don’t cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of my salvation!” David used a prayer of forgiveness to clean out his spiritual gutters and it allowed his spirit flow to move again! His joy was restored. Today is the day. Get before the Lord and get it done! Love ya.

What Matters Most

My heart is so full this morning and I have so much to share, but I just don’t have the time to get it all in! One of my greatest passions in life is to share God Word and to make it fun to understand God’s truths. I know the difference that Jesus can make in ones life! My heart is to see others come to a saving knowledge of knowing Jesus, and growing in that relationship, and then share it with the world. God equip me to do your work, and let your name be glorified because of it.

1 Corinthians 13:3 says, “No matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I am bankrupt without love.” 2 John 1:6 tells us this, “Love means living the way God commanded us to live. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is this; Live a life of love.” Because God is love, the most important lesson He wants us to learn here on earth is how to love. It is in loving that we are most like Him. But learning to love unselfishly is not always easy! He wants His family to be known for its love more than anything else. But know this, busyness is one of the greatest enemies of building relationships and loving others. It’s so easy to get preoccupied with making a living, paying bills, and doing life. The point of life is learning to love God and the people around you. Love last forever! Love leaves a legacy. Mother Teresa said, “It’s not what you do, but how much love you put into it that matters.”

Thank you Lord. I needed to hear this. Have a great day and please be careful in all this bad weather. Love you guys!😁

Quiet Worship/ Noisy Gratitude

Good morning! It’s Hump Day. I hope you are having a good week. Psalm 95:1-3; 6-7 says this, “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. Come let us now down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, and the flock under His care.”

I went to work out last week, and I always get started with cardio. So I went over to some of machines and began my workout. As I said hello to a couple of my buddies, I notice this one lady walking on the treadmill. She had her ear buds in, and you could tell she was enjoying her music as she worked out. She was getting energized by her music, and she was smiling from ear to ear. About 10 minutes later, she broke out in song! With a loud voice, she was praise Jesus right there in the middle of the gym! She got lost in the moment, and she was so full of Jesus, she had to let it out! I loved it.

Our quiet worship should turn into noisy gratitude! We were dead, but now we are alive. Let’s not continue acting as if we are dead. Take time to worship Him today and allow His love to fill you to a point of overflowing. Then express your gratitude and thankfulness to the Father loudly! It will do you some good! Love y’all!

Take Over

Ephesians 2:4-5 says, “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-It was by grace you have been saved.” Jesus didn’t come to sit on an earthly throne, or win a popularity contest. He didn’t come to earth for a makeover. He came for a takeover! He came to defeat sin and death once and for all. Jesus is so much more than just a good teacher and a great example to follow. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords! He is the Savior of the world. He showed us incredible grace that day he died on that rugged cross. Even tho we didn’t deserve it, He willingly took our place, and he took the sting of death! That is the greatest picture of love, mercy, and grace!

Ephesians 2:7-8 says this, “For it was by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works, so that one can boast. Jesus pursued us when we had nothing to offer in return. In our sin and shame Jesus died for us. What a display of grace! Jesus is in the business of resurrecting, redeeming, and restoring. Stop running from the One who loves you the most. You are never to far gone that His grace can’t redeem you, and restore you. The bigger the mess, the greater the grace. Have a great Tuesday and we will see you tomorrow.

His Persistent Love

Good morning friend! Where did the weekend go? God’s love is something that is so hard to grasp or fully understand, because His love is so deep and pure. The Bible is full of verses proclaiming God’s persistence love, and I want to share a few with you this morning.

Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning. Psalm 135:1-3 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His loves endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords; His love endures forever. 1 Corinthians 13:7-8 says, “Love knows no limit to its endurance, no end to its trust, no fading of its hope; it can outlast anything. It is, in fact, the one thing that stands when all else has fallen. This is just the tip of the iceberg!

Take time this morning to thank Him for His amazing love! He loves you so much, and His love has no limits! The message of the gospel is that when we couldn’t get to God, He came to us! He pursued us. His love never fades. Thank you Lord. I hope you have a great Monday.

O How We Forget

As a child, I remember singing a chorus that said, “He’s got the whole world in His hands.” I loved singing that song, and doing all the hand motions with my friends at church. We would get to stand before the whole church on Sunday night, and sing a couple of songs. We always brought the house down! We must have been great singers or just really cute kids, because they always clapped.

But if we believe God has the whole world in His hands, and He is in total control, why do do worry so much? If He has has everything in control, surely He can take care of us. Matthew 6:25-27 Jesus says, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet the Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who are you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?

If His eye is on the sparrow, He will surely watch over us. He is about to raise a beautiful sunrise just to see you smile. He is working for you without you even asking! That is real love! God didn’t have to make the sun rise this morning, and He didn’t have to give us His Son. But He did! Thank Him for His amazing love and always going the extra mile to display it. Lay worry aside and trust in His goodness! Love y’all!
